Brilliant film. Among my favourite three interpretations of the post-Godfather Pacino. The other two being De Palma's Carlito's Way (1993) and Mann's Heat (1995).
It's also my favourite role for Johnny Depp, even though I haven't seen Dead Man yet.
Forget about it.

The Dark Knight
| 26-Jul-08 | The Dark Knight (2008) | Cinema |
| Director: Christopher Nolan | ||

The very first scene has obviously been influenced by Michael Mann's Heat (1995), to the point that it almost plays as a mini-homage to that great film. In other parts, there are echoes of Nolan's own The Prestige (2006) - some references to 'magic tricks', Christian Bale's face, etc...
All the positive things written about Heath Ledger's Joker are absolutely deserved. His performance is incredibly exciting, fun to watch. It's a pity he's not around to receive the praise he deserves.
Overall a very enjoyable film, even though slightly too long. I'll see it again, just to re-enjoy The Joker's tricks and laughs.
