B 0 O O 0 o o r I n G. Peter Bradshaw hits again. After his review of La mujer sin cabeza, he writes another review which is basically much better than the film it is about. You read the review, you have an interesting story, well told, etc... You watch the film, you have more than 2 hours of out-of-focus images, annoying camera movements, grandiose display of lack of talent. Enter the Boredom.

Peter Bradshaw's review got me curious. That's why I decided to see it. I still can't understand how it is possible to disagree so much about something. I hated it. Hated every single shot of it. The only way one should be allowed to mention Michelangelo Antonioni's films and this one in the same sentence is by saying the former were beautiful films. This is not.

I have to admit I haven't seen it till the end, this time. After the first time I saw it, I thought it was depressing. But I wanted to give it another try. And my first impression was confirmed. It is so depressing, and boring. I hated it.

Oh my... I hated this film. HATED IT. I hated the postcard-like photography, the annoying voice-over, the frantic Matrix-like editing, and the cool camera movements that are million miles from the poverty and drama of the subject matter. I hated the absolute lack of humour, and the director's cynicism in turning such a dramatic story into a video game, almost literally.

What a mess! The writer and the director are absolutely inept. In this case they are the same person. Mirrors and Babylon A.D. deserve to be revalued: this is the worst film I've seen in a long time.

Burn After Reading

Really really funny. I love it when George Clooney doesn't play "George Clooney". And here there is also Brad Pitt who doesn't play "Brad Pitt". And Frances McDormand and Tilda Swinton are just great. Tilda Swinton's in the harem with this. And J.K. Simmons has a little part that he plays so brilliantly. One of the funniest and most entertaining I've seen in a while.
